| Veale, Sir Douglas | 1908-09 | Born 2nd April 1891. Bristol Grammar School. Corpus Christi College, Oxford. WW1 4th Glosters. Civil servant with the Local Government Board, later the Ministry of Health . He was private secretary to various Ministers of Health between 1921 and 1928, then private secretary to Neville Chamberlain , helping to implement the Local Government Act 1929. CBE 1st March 1929. Registrar of the University of Oxford. Knighted 1954. Died 27th September 1973 Oxford. |

(Indian Army), and Jessie Margaret Anderson, of Upton-on-Severn, Worcester. Weymouth College. Lieut. Col. Indian Army. 58th Vaughan's Rifles (Frontier Force). Married 17th September 1895 Annie Lilian Barton in Bombay. Killed in action 31st October 1914 at Givenchy-les-Labassée, shot dead by Germans dressed in Gurkha uniforms taken from the dead. Buried at Bethune Town Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. |
